Chy Trevail Offices

  • Location Bodmin, Cornwall
  • Client Cornwall Council
  • Cost £15m
  • Year 2016

The Chy Trevail office development for Cornwall Council was designed to relocate staff from inefficient smaller offices to new purpose built, efficient and sustainable facilities in Bodmin.

The building accommodates 600+ staff and includes a central atrium for the main reception and public facilities, as well as open plan flexible work-space over three floors. The layout of these floors has been developed to incorporate the principles of ‘modern working’, which allows for greater space utilisation and work space efficiency.

The building has a highly energy efficient design driven by a challenging DEC rating and incorporates 200kw photovoltaics to generate on-site renewable energy, low energy LED lighting, improved insulation, air-tightness and measures to reduce water consumption.

Chy Trevail was named ‘Building of the Year’ at the Michlemores Property Awards 2016 at Sandy Park in Exeter.

"Chy Trevail is a demonstration of what real project teamwork can achieve... client, consultants and contractor all pulling together, delivering a challenging clients brief on-time and on budget".
