Iain has extensive healthcare experience based on his involvement in a number of cutting edge projects. He was intimately involved in the competition winning design for the acclaimed ACAD at Central Middlesex Hospital. Widely recognised for its innovation, this project won a Millennium Product Award, the NHS Design Excellence Award in 2001 and has been widely published. Iain’s involvement is credited in the book “Hospital Builders” and his original drawings featured in Health Facilities Note 13, published to illustrate the competition winning design.

Iain led the team designing the redevelopment plans for the £837million New South Glasgow Hospitals and the £300million Ulster Hospital in Belfast. The Ulster Hospital commission, like the CMH ACAD, was secured following an architectural design competition. Both these major hospital projects involved resolving innovative and complex clinical briefs on fully operational and very restricted acute hospital sites.

Iain was also instrumental in the design of an innovative Health and Social Care Centre in Barrhead, Scotland. The centre combines Local Authority Social Care in a Health Facility housing local GP surgeries, adult mental health services, physiotherapy and peripatetic outpatient clinics in a single building within the community.
