Atlantic Studio

  • Location St Ives, Cornwall
  • Client Poynton Bradbury Wynter Cole Architects
  • Year 2013

After outgrowing The Old Sail Lofts in the heart of St Ives, the practice purchased a former petrol station on the main road into St Ives to develop it's own purposes built 335sqm studio.

The construction and delivery of Atlantic Studio was supported by a grant from the Regional Growth Fund (RGF), with the support of Cornwall Development Company, Cornwall Council and the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership.

The project stitches together the retained and upgraded single storey garage showroom with a new two storey block to provide a contemporary and fully accessible workspace with stunning panoramic views across the bay of St Ives.

The improve the financial viability of the project the practice designed and delivered four natural slate clad terraced houses adjacent to the new studio.

This is the second LEP investment in the St Ives area and is another good example of how regional growth fund can support business growth and expansion. The regeneration of this prominent but currently disused site will allow the company to grow and create high quality employment for the area.
