Mousehole School

  • Client Cornwall Council
  • Location Mousehole, Cornwall
  • Cost £1.6m
  • Completed 2011

Set within the picturesque town of Mousehole on the South coast of Cornwall this primary school required a substantial refurbishment and expansion in order to bring the historic victorian era buildings up to modern standards.

The capacity of the school was increased from 85 to 129 through the sensitive extension and refurbishment of the existing school buildings located within the Mousehole Conservation area.

The contemporary design is playful in appearence and arrangement, creating engaging areas from circulation spaces. This innovative approach was exemplified by the school's community being fully involved within the design process. The project received a BREEAM target of 'Very Good' upon completion.
