An outpatients clinic for contraceptive advice and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.
The project is located on the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust's main site and was constructed whilst the hospital continued to operate. The 1,095m² development is over three floors and comprises a full range of sexual health services including contraception, genitourinary and HIV clinical spaces.
Consultation, examination, treatment, testing and counselling accommodation occupies the lower two floors. The upper floor is for staff training, teaching, office and welfare accommodation.
The highly serviced building achieved BREEAM Very Good and excellence in design in an AEDET review.
Together with the rest of the design team we took a proactive review of the requirements of the Health Technical Memorandum and Health Building Notes to ensure the building met the highest design standards and could deliver high quality care.
